So, here’s what I’ve been eating almost every day this summer! Summertime is one of my favorite seasons. Not only I can enjoy fresh fruits, but also fresh produce. And corn fritter is one of the recipes I make on repeat. They’re so easy to make and can be done in less than 30 minutes.
What are corn fritters?
Based on Wikipedia, corn fritters are very well-known in Indonesia. The ingredients are completely different than what Native American makes and are not baked so you can skip preheat the oven and set aside your muffin pan.
Indonesian corn fritters are made savory and part of our meals. Although the original recipe is using a deep fryer method, this recipe uses an air fryer which tastes more like baked corn fritters.
What kind of corn is used?
Good news because you’ve got some options for the corn. You can use either canned corn, frozen corn, or even roasted corn. Whichever is easiest for you.
Can I freeze these corn fritters?
Totally! I’m a planner when it comes to food. Ahem. I need to plan my game each time I go on a trip which means I always prepare freezer-friendly meals so I don’t need to worry about them when I come home. And corn fritter is one of those freezer-friendly recipes you can make.
And unlike other fritters recipe, this recipe is using an air fryer which makes this recipe healthier. All you need is a large bowl to put in your sweet corn, dry ingredients combined with wet ingredients. Mix well then scoop them into an air fryer and cook until they turn golden brown.
What makes these corn fritters different?
Rice flour! It produces many of the same results of wheat flour and often used as a thickening agent in cooking that makes a nicely browned coating on fried foods. Bonus point: it’s gluten-free.Print

- 2 1/2 cups whole kernel corn
- ⅓ cup of rice flour
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 large egg
- Salt, to taste
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced
- Oil, for frying
- Heat oil in a heavy pot or deep fryer.
- Mix ingredients in a bowl. Add 1-2 tablespoons of water if the batter is too thick.
- Drop fritter batter by spoonfuls into the hot oil and fry until golden. Drain on paper towels.
